Cheapli collects the following information to provide our price comparison service:
Account Information
- Email Address: Used for account identification and communication
- Name: Optional, used for personalization
- Password: Securely stored (we never store plain text passwords)
- Google Account Info: If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and name
Service Usage Data
- Search Queries: Product names and descriptions you search for
- Usage Data: Number of searches performed (for free tier rate limiting)
- Images: Product images you upload (processed temporarily, not stored)
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device information (via standard web logs)
Browser Extension Data
If you use the Cheapli browser extension:
- Product Page Data: When you click the extension on a supported retailer website, the extension reads the product name and price from the page to enable price comparison
- Authentication Token: Stored locally in your browser to keep you signed in
- Extension Settings: Your preferences (like auto-search toggle) stored locally in your browser
Important: The extension only reads product information from pages you explicitly visit. It does NOT track your browsing history, read data from non-retailer websites, or collect any information in the background.
Payment Information
- Subscription Status: We store whether you have an active Premium subscription
- Stripe Customer ID: Links your account to your payment information
- Payment Details: Credit card numbers and billing details are processed and stored securely by Stripe - we never have access to your full card number
How We Use Your Information
- To provide price comparison results
- To identify products using AI
- To authenticate you and manage your account
- To enforce usage limits
- To process Premium subscription payments
- To send password reset emails when requested
- To improve our service and fix technical issues
- To comply with legal obligations
Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account or request deletion
- Uploaded Images: Deleted immediately after processing (not stored on our servers)
- Search Queries: Stored for 24 hours for rate limiting purposes, then deleted
- Price Data: Cached for 3 hours to improve performance
- Extension Authentication: Tokens stored locally in your browser until you sign out
Third-Party Services
Cheapli uses the following third-party services:

- Stripe: Payment processing for Premium subscriptions - See Stripe Privacy Policy
- Service Providers: We use third-party providers for hosting, data storage, email delivery, and AI-powered product detection. These providers only receive the minimum data necessary to provide our service and are bound by their own privacy policies.
- Retail Partners: When you click Buy buttons, you visit third-party retailer websites (Amazon, eBay, etc.) - their privacy policies apply
Cookies and Local Storage
Cheapli uses the following storage mechanisms:
- Session Cookies: To keep you logged in to your account
- Local Storage: To cache search results and filter preferences
- Chrome Storage (Extension): To store your extension authentication token and settings locally
We do NOT use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies.
Your Rights

- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Export your data
- Uninstall the browser extension at any time (removes all locally stored data)
- Contact us with privacy concerns
